Leonard Gordon Cook

Leonard Gordon Cook "Cook" passed away at his home on November 19, 2009, at the age of 72. He was born August 31, 1937 in Sylvester, GA to the late Addy and Carrie Cook. He was married to Violet L. Morrell-Cook on May 23, 1981 in Colorado Springs. "Cook" retired from Fort Carson as a SFC with the US Army serving with the Engineers, he served two tours in Vietnam. He received a Bronze Star Medal, National Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal with 9 Bronze Service Stars, Vietnam Campaign Medal with 60 Device, Good Conduct Medal, 3 Overseas Bars and Five Service Stripes.
"Cook" was a driver for Schneider Trucking receiving the Million Mile Safety Award. He was also a driver for Enterprise Car Sales. He is survived by his wife Violet; his children Sandra Gross, Wanda Foster, Kem Conway, Dianna Coffey, Garry Coffey, Michael (Michelle) Coffey, Leonard Cook Jr., Andrew Cook, Betty Jean Cook, Alfonzo (Maria) Cook, Tina (Eric) Slaughter and Tyrone Cook; his sisters and brothers, Ruth M. Fowler, LeLia (Lester) Patterson, Eleoise Clark, Thelma Mormon, JohnnyCook and Addy Jr. (Mary) Cook; 40 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews and cousins.
A visitation was held Nov. 24 at Dove-Witt Family Mortuary 6630 S. Hwy 85/87 Fountain, CO. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. today (Wed., Nov. 25) at Dove-Witt Family Mortuary. Burial will follow at 2 p.m. at Fort Logan National Cemetery Denver, CO.

Eleanor Orange

Eleanor Orange died Nov. 18, 2009. She was born Feb. 27, 1921 in Penrod, KY. She married James Orange on Sept. 5, 1941. They lived in Okinawa, Japan, Germany and several states before moving in Colorado in 1958. After her husband retired from the Army, they managed Chancellors Trailer Court and Burno Apartments. She also worked at Sears in Southgate and was a cook at Fountain High School.
She is survived by her husband of the home; her children, Jimmy Orange of Fountain, Charles Orange of Fountain, Joanna Johnson of Chicago, and David Orange of Buffalo, OK, nine grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren.
The first church service of the Fountain Valley Baptist Church was held in her living room.
Services were held Nov. 21 at Fountain Valley Baptist Church. Burial was at Fairview Cemetery, Fountain.

Darrell D. McCullough, 70, passed away Nov. 18, 2009 in Colorado Springs.
He was born June 5, 1939 to the late Rossi and Clairis McCullough in Jefferson City, MO. He married Betty L. (Jennings) Jan. 6, 1968 in Green Mountain Falls.
He worked at King Soopers as a Meat Supervisor for 23 years. He later worked for the Fort Carson Commissary as a Meat Supervisor for 23 years. He was an avid hunter and fisherman.
He is survived by his wife; a son, Brandon D. McCullough; two daughters, Lesa McCullough and Deanna L. McCullough; and two grandchildren, George D. McCullough and Jesse DeWane McCullough.
Arrangements were handled by Dove-Witt Family Mortuary, 6630 S. Highway 85/87, Fountain.

CAROLYN DAVIS

Carolyn Davis passed away on Nov. 16, 2009 at the age of 67.
She was born Sept. 9, 1942 in Colorado Springs, then lived her adult life in Widefield. She graduated from Harrison High School in 1960, then married Ronald Davis on Dec. 17, 1960. They enjoyed a loving relationship until his passing in 2004. He was truly her lifelong love. She was a homemaker and raised three children who survive her, Kenneth Davis, Teresa Mueller and Tammy Kosley. She is also survived by her brother, Don Seefeldt of Michigan; a sister, Bev Seefeldt of Colorado Springs; seven grandchildren, three great-grandchildren and her little Chihuahua, Gizmo .
She was preceded in death by her parents, Harvey and Rosella Seefeldt.
She helped Ron with managing Lincoln Plaza Chevron in Security, selling used cars at Silver Star Motors and enjoyed stock car racing. She was an avid Denver Broncos fan. Her hobbies included cross-stitch, playing video poker in Cripple Creek, internet and card games and matinee movies. She also enjoyed time with her grandchildren and cheering them on in their various sports. She was loving and generous and will be dearly missed.
A memorial service was held at 10 a.m. Nov. 20 at will be at Dove-Witt Family Mortuary, 6630 S. Hwy. 85/87, Fountain.
In lieu of flowers, the family wishes memorial contributions be made to the Pikes Peak Humane Society.

SPC. Jonathon Matthew Sylvestre, 21, passed away Nov. 2, 2009 in Iraq.
He was born Oct. 27, 1988 to James and Sharon (Adams) Sylvestre in Colorado Springs, CO. He joined the Army in June of 2007 where he received the ARCOM, Good Conduct Medal, National Defense Service, Global War on Terrorism. Iraq Campaign, Army Service and Overseas Awards.
He is survived by his parents; a sister Jessica Sylvestre of Colorado Springs; .his grandparents, multiple aunts, uncles and cousins.

Monica L. Burke, 72, went to the Lord on Nov. 11, 2009.
Monica was born Sept. 17, 1937 to the late Austin Hoyt Petrey and Loretta Evelyn Carter in Cincinnati, Ohio. She attended Eastfield Community College in Mesquite, TX where she earned a business Certification in Business Technology. She also completed a PHD in "Mothering.” Monica and her late husband Pete owned Burke General Contracting.
She is survived by the father of her children, J.D Lemons of Dallas, TX; son James (Peggy) Lemons of Royce City TX, daughters Connie (Rusty) Powell of Mesquite, TX and Katie (Doug) Lollar of Fountain, CO’; granddaughters Keesha (Aaron) Webster and Windi Powell; grandson Chance Lollar; three brothers, Jack, Wayne, Bob; and a sister, Lora, all of Texas.
Monica was preceded in death by her brother, Kenneth Allen.

Ruby Kelling, 66, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Nov. 6, 2009, at Billings (MT) Clinic surrounded by her family.
Ruby was born to Glenn and Myrtle Petersen Powell on June 11, 1943, in Colorado Springs, CO. She grew up in Fountain and graduated from Fountain High School in 1961. She was the first queen crowned by the Fountain Labor Day Celebration. Ruby married Gary Kelling on Dec. 16, 1961, to which they had three wonderful boys, Kevin (Terry), Wade (Tabitha) and Kurt (Tami), who survive her. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Tiffany, Joshua and Tanner; her brother, Jack (Betty) Powell of Fountain; her sister, Ruth Ann Gaston of Reno, NV.; her brother, Gary (Jeannie) Powell of Tangent, OR; and sister-in-laws, Jody and Ruth Powell of Fountain.
She was preceded in death by her parents; older brothers Darrel and Donald; and a brother-in-law, Jim Gaston
She devoted most of her life and career working with adults with disabilities. She worked for COR Enterprises for 28 years and retired in June of 2006. .
A visitation will be held from 1-4 p.m. today ( Wed., Nov. 11) at Cremation & Funeral Gallery, 29 8th St. West, Billings. Funeral services will be held at 11 am. Thurs., Nov. 12, at St. Stephens Episcopal Church, 13th St. West and Crawford Dr. in Billings. Cremation will follow services.
