Rosetta Selby
February 11, 1924 - September 7, 2008
Rosetta Selby passed away on Sunday, September 7, 2008 in Broken Arrow, Oklahoma at the age of 84 years after a lengthy illness.
Her memorial service, followed by interment next to her husband, will held on Friday, September 12, at 11 a.m. at Memorial Gardens in Colorado Springs, Colorado. Visitors were welcome to call until Wednesday early evening at Moore Funeral Home, Eastlawn Chapel, located at 1908 S. Memorial in Tulsa, Oklahoma. Moore Funeral Home will be conducting the memorial service also in Colorado Springs.
Rosetta was born the first twin to Frank & Nellie Perriman in Colorado Springs, Colorado on February 11, 1924. The Perrimans lived most of their lives in the Fountain Valley area and had a popular orchard and farm east of Fountain.
Rosetta and her twin sister, Ruth, graduated from Fountain High School just two days before Rosetta married Olen Selby in Pauls Valley, OK on May 20, 1943. The family resided in Fountain, Colorado for many years before moving to Norman, Oklahoma.
She worked for 28 years as a Nurse’s Aid at Griffin Memorial Hospital in Norman. After her retirement, Rosetta lived in Kimberling City, Missouri with her daughters’ family and operated “Grandma’s Daycare” in the home for many years. Over the years, she “raised” 16 children from birth to school-age. Recently, the family re-located to Tulsa.
Mrs. Selby was preceded in death by her parents, Frank and Nellie Perriman; three brothers, her husband (of 42 years) Olen, and her two sons, Ronnie and Donnie Selby.
Survivors include her twin sister, Ruth Dickson, of Fountain, Colorado, her daughter and son-in-law, Olena & Larry Majewski of Tulsa, Oklahoma; niece Cheryl Puckett of Fountain, six grandchildren: Rhonda Minyard of Waco, TX, Brenda Pierce of Norman, OK, Brian Ranger of Knoxville, TN, Shelena Guettermann of Broken Arrow, OK, Janna Selby of Tulsa, OK and Sandy Selby of Kansas City, MO; and two sisters-in-law.
She loved and was proud of her seven great-grandchildren, as well as several nieces and nephews.
Rosetta was a devoted Christian and recently joined Bethany Free Will Baptist Church in Broken Arrow, Oklahoma.
She loved children, enjoyed caring for others and was an excellent cook.
Because of her love for children, the family requests that memorial contributions be made to Bethany’s Children’s Ministry or to Trinity Hospice who cared so lovingly for her.
Gerard A. Farland Sr. Died Saturday 2nd, of August 2008.
He was 60 years old; he also served as a Capt. In the Marines on active duty for 4 years and in the reserves for another 4 years. He served 2 years in Vietnam.
His funeral services were held at the Mahar and Son funeral home 628 Man t. Bennington, Vt. 05201. He was buried with full military honors.
Reception will be held at their home from 6 am to 9 am and services at the church at 11 am. With burial services at the White Chapel cemetery afterwards.
Gerard is survived by his brother Paul Farand, his wife Andrea Benway Farland, sons Gerard Jr., Christian, and daughter Misty Pryer, also survived by grandchildren Leah & Gracie and Christian jr.
He is preceded in death by Father Rosier Farland and mother Margret Saulnier Farland
