Strong, experienced and 'continued' leadership is vital
Folks to the north who haven’t venture “down” our way in recent years might think they have landed in “Oz” instead of the City of Fountain if they made the trip. With the beautiful courtyard and gardens in front of City Hall, as well as the many other parks, beautiful neighborhoods and growing number of businesses here, we should be proud to call Fountain home!
Our tremendous assets don’t nearly stop there! We have highly-accomplished leaders who remain dedicated to making the entire Fountain Valley community a better place.
In School District Eight, we have new Superintendent Cheryl Walker, an outstanding leader and lady, who worked closely with Superintendent Dwight Jones, prior to his recent appointment as Colorado’s Commissioner of Education.
We wish Cheryl many years of success and hope she will “stay on” for awhile so we can fully benefit from Cheryl’s dynamic, strong leadership! I’m sure she is an inspiration to many of the young women attending District Eight schools.
Also, congratulations to School District Eight’s administration on kicking off the school year from its new Administrative Building located just north of the marveled-about Fountain-Fort Carson High School and Sports complex.
Yes, we have a lot to be proud of here. In the last 10-20 years Fountain has experienced numerous growth, was recognized nationally twice and much more. And if I were a fortune teller I’d suggest you hang on to those sunglasses, because our future stands to continuing being bright for some time to come...
That is why, I believe, at this point in our community’s growth and development (or aging process) it is not only wise to have strong, experienced leaders on our City Council, I believe it is ESSENTIAL to have CONTINUED leadership from our Mayor, Jeri Howells. That is why I believe we must re-elect her in November. We have and will continue to benefit from Mayor Jeri Howells ‘combined 20-30 years of experience in public service (in this region), her vast knowledge of our community that has been her home for 40+ years, and all of her contacts and established working relationships with leaders and organizations throughout the Pikes Peak region and in the Fountain Valley community.
Rarely, do we find leaders of such integrity, experience and dedication to serving “we the people.” And, Mayor Howells hasn’t forgotten her roots, either. She realizes the importance of supporting city staff at all levels, and being available to all citizens. She stands for open, honest and fair government and won’t be deterred by pressure from those seeking to upset her or by ridiculous shenanigans. It is vital for her to be re-elected this November so she can continue to oversee many important projects that have begun under her watch.
