The all-stars from the 11-and-under team competed in state competition in Southeast Denver, Holly Field over the weekend of July 13 - 15. The team won its first game but lost the next one. Coming back through the losers’ bracket, the elevens lost to Southeast Denver in the championship game, coming home with a second place finish.

The 14-year-old all star team provided the baseball fans with a very emotional state tournament. After winning the first game against East Central West, the team moved to the losers’ bracket after their first loss to East Central East 5 - 4. Next, they sent Trinidad, Union Pacific, and East Central East home with their second losses. Their next opponent, Lamar, was fresh with only two games under its belt but the all stars trounced them with great determination by a score of 16 - 3. Tuesday’s game against Lamar was not as easy, as the Fountain Valley All Stars fell with a score of 9 - 4, giving them a second place finish in the state competition.
