El Paso County Parks Supervisor & Interpretive Specialist Ken Pals, who guided the Fountain Creek Nature Center’s crawdad fishing workshop, humanely released this angry captive crawdad after the workshop was completed.
The Crawdad Fishing workshop was hosted on Saturay at the nature center. After a brief hands-on introduction to the life of our “freshwater lobsters,” participants were allowed to fish for crawdads in a catch and release exercise using bait, which comprised mainly of bacon and string.
“There are different kinds of arthropods,” Pals explained, “6-legged insects, 8-legged arachnids, 10-legged crustaceans, centipedes and millipedes.”
