Take the Culex Tarsalis, also known as “The Western Encephalitis Mosquito.” She (only the females bite) is the primary transmitter of West Nile Virus.
This blood-sucker is most recognized by the white band on her proboscis (the needle-like straw used to pierce victims), white V’s on her abdomen, as well as black-and-white-banded legs.
