Ladder truck elevates Security Fire Department

Fire Chief Rob “Ski” Stambaugh and the Security Fire Department wants the people of Fountain Valley to know they’ve been very proactive over the past year in upgrading, streamlining and modernizing their department.
“We’ve got a lot of things going on,” Stambaugh said. He introduced fire fighters Gretchen Wright and Don Chittenden, the two new temporary employees. They started March 1, 2007.
“With our call-volume, we’re running a little over 2,400 calls a year,” Stambaugh explained.
Wright and Chittenden’s positions are temporary, but at the end of the year, depending on how the mill levy goes, he hopes to make them fulltime.

It’s easy to forget how fragile life is.

We go about our lives, assuming one day will be much the same as the last. We make our plans. Then, every so often, something happens to bring us back down to reality. Such an event occurred in Charleston, SC when nine firefighters were killed on June 18 in the midst of battling a furniture store fire.
