Code Enforcements puts kabosh on yard sale signs


Did Code Enforcement take your garage sale sign?
“It’s a common ordinance in many municipalities,” Code Enforcement Supervisor Juan Flores explained in answer to complaints of missing garage sale signs posted by local residents.
The rule is: no garage sale signs without a permit. Period.

LiveWell Fountain makes case to City Council

Libby Evans, a member of the LiveWell Fountain Steering Committee, presented the mission of the LiveWell Fountain program at a recent Fountain City Council meeting. She was joined by the new project coordinator, Kristine Hensley. The two explained the mission is to improve the health of the community by promoting awareness of the causes and consequences of excess body weight, and developing and enhancing programs and policies designed to prevent obesity and sustain a healthy lifestyle.
City Council meets with full agenda
Special honors were given to Billy Oneyear for his nine years of past service on Council. Mayor Jeri Howells commended Oneyear, and thanked him for his hard work and commitment to the community.
Special recognition was given to Code Enforcement Supervisor Juan Flores for his service to the community. Councilmember Bryan Johnson added, “I wanted to recognize Juan Flores for his help with the Relay for Life event here in Fountain Valley. He was very instrumental in getting things lined up, showing up, setting up tables and chairs and giving us pointers on who to contact.”

Starting summer with a day at the park
Justice Parmenter, 10, son of Destiny Parmenter; and “Peaches Clark” a 3 ½-year-old dog, were among those in attendance at a recent “summer” concert at Pi-Ute Park in Seucrity. The summer concert series, sponsored by the Widefield Community Center, coincides with summer festivities.
The public is encouraged to pack a picnic basket, grab a blanket and join the fun at at Pi-Ute Park. The next scheduled concert will be “Poor Boys,” 6 to 8 p.m. on July 27. A local acappella group featuring vocals with tunes from the 50’s to the present, Poor Boys will provide a family-friendly show including choreography, audience interaction and “great tunes.”For more information, call the Widefield Community Center at 391-3515.

4th of July drawing, writing contest begins
The Fountain Valley News / El Paso County Advertiser and News, in conjunction with the Security Fire Department, is holding a coloring and writinga contest for kids in the Fountain Valley. The contest will have a 4th of July theme.
All entries will be displayed at the Security Fire Department during the 4th of July Community Breakfast. The winning entries will also be published in the Fountain Valley News’ 4th of July Special Section, which will come out on June 27.
