Danny Joe Grueschow
FEBRUARY 20, 1963 - MAY 9, 2007 Danny Joe Grueschow, formerly of Colorado Springs, passed away unexpectedly on May 9, 2007 in Rockvale, CO.
He was born in Bamberg, Germany on February 20, 1963 to Ingeborg (Topfer) and Harold E. “Stretch” Grueschow. Danny Joe came to the U.S. at 3 months of age, and moved to Colorado in 1976. He attended Widefield High School and worked for Jiffy Lube for 28 years as a mechanic. He married Linda Jo of Rockvale on June 26, 1999.
Survivors include his mother, Ingeborg Grueschow of Widefield; his wife, Linda Jo, of Rockvale; a daughter, Danielle (and Eric) Williams of Colorado Springs, a granddaughter, Zandria Williams; a stepson, Justin Adams of Rockvale; his sisters, Sylvia (and Klaus) Hein of Rugheim, Germany; and Shelley (and Doug) Mickey of Calvin KY, brothers, Darren (and Sue) Grueschow of Colorado Springs and David (and Laura) Grueschow of Albuquerque, NM, and 21 nieces and nephews.
Danny Joe was preceded in death by his father, Harold “Stretch” Grueschow; and a brother, Duane Grueschow.
Danny Joe lived life to its fullest and loved being with his family and friends. He loved the outdoors and wildlife, riding horses, fishing, hunting, boating, camping, working on his trucks, riding his dirt bikes and other all-terrain vehicles. He had been working on building a rock crawler. He was always willing to help out others in need and his smile brightened any room he entered.
Memorial Services were May 15 at the Southern Baptist Church, in Rockvale. Memorial donations may be sent to the American Red Cross.
Gloria Longfield
JULY 20, 1939 - MAY 13, 2007
Gloria “Faye” Longfield, a former long-time Fountain resident, died suddenly on May 13, 2007.
She was born July 20, 1939.
Gloria and her husband of 50 years, Edward, co-owned Mayfield’s Supermarket in Fountain.
She is survived by her husband, children, Lorrie Lang, Deborah Thompson, Tracy and Mike Guenther, Edward and Elizabeth Longfield; and her beloved grandchildren, Kayci, Zachary, Brittany, Austin, Nicholas, Timothy and Kristiana.
A service will be held at 1:30 p.m. Friday, May 18, at the World Prayer Center Chapel at New Life Church in Colorado Springs. Private interment will take place at Monument Cemetery.
Gloria was the sunshine in her family’s life. She was loved by everyone who met her and she will be deeply missed.
Francisco Casias, Jr.
JANUARY 27, 1979 - May 9, 2007
Francisco Casias, Jr., 28, passed away on May 9, 2007, due to a tragic motorcycle accident.
He was born January 27, 1979 in La Jara, CO to Salvador and Debbie Casias. He and his family moved to Colorado Springs in 1990. He graduated from Widefield High School in 1990. He loved spending time with his family and “chilling” with his friends. He was a business operator of Casias Trucking since 2000.
He is survived by his parents of Colorado Springs; his brother, Lucas; his sister-in-law, Vickie; nieces, Sara and Rebeka; and nephews, Joe and Zacarias.
He is also survived by his beloved bulldog and buddy, Buster.
He was preceded in death by his grandfathers, Magarito Martinez and Salvador Casias; his grandmother, Crestina Casias; his uncles, Jessie and Joseph; and his cousin, Jacob Martinez.
Visitation was May 13 at Dove Witt Family Mortuary, 6630 S. Highway 85/87, Fountain.
A celebration of his life at Holy Family Catholic Church, 331 Main Street, Security was held May 14.
Sgt. Maj. Stephen E. Seidel, US Army (Ret.)
AUGUST 19, 1950 - MAY 10, 2007 Stephen E. Seidel, 56, passed away on May 10, 2007 surrounded by his loving family. He had fought a courageous battle with cancer.
Stephen was born on August 19, 1950 to John R. and Margaret L. (Stephen) Seidel in Reading, Pennsylvania. He was one of four children. On August 11, 1973, in Colorado Springs, Stephen married Karen “Kris” Linder at Circle Baptist Church and together they had two children.
Stephen started his decorated military career in June 1969 at Ft. Dix, New Jersey. He served in Germany, Vietnam, Colorado, Massachusetts, North Dakota, Panama, Texas, Korea, and Japan before retiring as Sergeant Major, 4th Replacement Company at Fort Carson here in Colorado Springs. Stephen received numerous awards including the Legion of Merit, Meritorious Service Medal, Army Presidential Unit Commendation and United States Army Basic Recruiter Badge to name but a few. In addition to his military career, Stephen also worked for 7 years at Quantum Corporation as a material handler
Stephen was a man of many likes and talents. He loved fishing and wood-working, low-rider cars, model trains and computers. He was a great history buff and intellectual. Playing cards, trivia and dressing up for Halloween were definitely talents he possessed.
Stephen is survived by his loving wife of 33 years; daughter Tricia J. (husband David) Falcetti; son Stephen E. Seidel, Jr; three grandchildren, Anthony, Cantyn and Baylee; brother, Richard Seidel; father and mother-in-law Richard and Pat Linder; as well as several good friends and extended family members.
His parents; sister Stephanie Seidel and brother Garron Seidel preceded him in death.
A Military Memorial Service took place May 15, at the Shrine of Remembrance “America the Beautiful” Chapel of Roses. A permanent marker of memorialization has been placed in the Shrine of Remembrance Veteran’s Honor Court in his honor.
