Ronald N. ST. Louis
Memorial services for SFC Ronald N. ST. Louis (Ret.) are planned this Sat., May 10, at 10:30 a.m. at Dove-Witt Funeral Homeís Chapel, 6630 S. Hwy. 85/87 in Fountain.
Ron passed away Mon., May 5, at Memorial Hospital in Colorado Springs. He and his wife, Emily, have lived in the Widefield area since 1972.
His obituary will appear in next weekís issue of this paper.
Joann Oberding
Joann (Sisemore) Oberding, 78, a resident of Colorado Springs, passed away May 2, 2008.
Born in Hooper, Colorado, on June 29, 1929, she was the daughter of the late Pauline and C.T. Sisemore. Also preceding her in death were her husband, Frank Oberding; and her brother, Leon Sisemore. She is survived by her two daughters, Laura Murphy and Penny Larson-Hubbard; her granddaughter, Nicole Rose; and her great-granddaughter, Hailey Rose.
After graduating from Alamosa High School in 1947, Joann attended Adams State College and received her BA (1953) and MA (1967) in music education there.
She married Frank Oberding, an Air Force officer, in 1951 and traveled worldwide continuing to teach during all of these assignments. They moved to Colorado Springs in 1959.
She spent her entire teaching career in Widefield District Three. During those years, she also served as an accompanist, choir director, and choral director and produced many cantatas, shows and musical events. She believed every child should be aware of and experiment with a variety of musical experiences.
Mrs. Oberding was also active with Jobís Daughters, the Republican Party, Al Kaly Shrine, Daughters of the Nile, La Societe de Femme, The Retired Officerís Wifeís Club, Valley Hi Nineís and the Assistance League (School Bell).
After Frank passed on, she wintered in Casa Grande, Arizona where she made many close friends, played thousands of rounds of golf and taught and played many hands of bridge.
A memorial service is planned at Memorial Gardens, 3825 Airport Road, in Colo. Spgs., at 2 p.m. on May 7, with a viewing beginning at 1 p.m., prior to the service. Donations should be made to the Shrinerís Crippled Childrenís Hospital or Dollars for Scholars at Widefield School District Three Credit Union.
John S. Congdon
John S. Congdon, went home to be with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ Wednesday April 23,2008. He was bom Sept 5,1929 in Wheaton, JJJinois to George and LelaMae (Sage) Congdon.
John is survived by his wife of 54 years Connie (Wiley). Also his children Nina (Ron) Geary, Rachel (Ricky) Poff and Travis (Nancy) Congdon: grandchildren, Sandy Geary, Melody Geary, Christy Geary, Micah Geary, Jeramy (Megan) Steele, David Steele and Angelina Williams: great grandchildren., Kai, Madeline and Andrew; and his sister Elizabeth Wallace and many, many friends. John a resident of Security- for 40 years was a typewriter repairman. He sang and played the saw with the Harmonizers, a local group. He was involved with his church, playing the saw, singing, men's ministry and traveling on mission trips to Mexico building homes. John was a stamp and coin collector. He enjoyed his N gauge trains with his grandchildren and taking them fishing. John and Connie made several memorable trips by train.
John loved His Lord and Savior and served him faithfully for years but more than anything knew His Savior Jesus Christ loved him. John is with Jesus now and we celebrate his life. |
