Matthew Charles Sims, 25, of Security passed away unexpectedly on February 19, 2008 as the result of a traffic accident.
Matthew was born to Terry and Maggie Sims on August 5, 1982 in Minden, Louisiana. He graduated from Colorado School for the Deaf and Blind in 2002. He was employed by PCSI in grounds maintenance and landscaping.
Matthew is survived by his parents, Terry and Maggie Sims; his brother, Josh Sims; his sister, Amy (and Kevin) Reinhold; grandmother, Eva Helton; his sister-in-law, Jessica Lessard; and his niece, Kyra.
Funeral services were February 23, at GracePointe Church, 305 Norman Drive, Security. Burial was at Evergreen Cemetery in Colorado Springs.
Matt loved basketball, football, wrestling, snowboarding and motorcycling. He will be forever loved and missed by his family and friends.
Stewart Gaunt, Jr., 78, Security passed away on February 20, 2008 at Memorial Hospital after a short illness. He was born in Niagara Falls, Canada and had been a local resident since 1964. Stewart served with the US Army for 24 years and then worked with Fox Supply, Inc. until he retired in 1990. He regularly played Old Timers League Hockey up to 1990.
Surviving are his son, David, of Colorado Springs; daughter-in-law, Marilyn; grandchildren, Kasie of Tucson, Dustin (serving in the US Air Force), Jackie and her husband, Jeff, and Justin Lynch of Colorado Springs; great-grandchildren, Kylee, Chance, and Kayla; brother, George; sister, Grace; niece, Cathy and her family, all of Niagara Falls, NY.
Funeral services were at Dove-Witt Fountain Valley Chapel, 6630 S. Hwy 85/87, Fountain on February 27. Burial with military honors was at Memorial Gardens Cemetery, Colorado Springs.
