A piece of local history returns home
Since the formation of the Fountain Valley Historical Society and Museum, which involved a great deal of collaboration from the community, I've hoped it would do well...
I would have to say with leaders like President Stella Neugebauer (who just happens to be one of my most favorite people in the world) I know it will! A lot of folks like her have put a great deal of effort into making the museum an educational, informative and most interesting place to visit. If you havenít been by to visit yet, I hope you will plan to do so soon!
Of course, the newest bit of local history to ìreturn home,î as featured on todayís front page is the infamous murder confession of John Spicer. It is said he put into words what his soul could no longer bear, before passing from this earth. Then, in the 1980s, the home was undergoing remodeling when the confession was discovered. I canít quite get the cobwebs off the ìmemoryî section of my brain that houses the name of the TV show on which the murder confession was featured, but it certainly made big news.
Last I had heard, present-day homeowners Penny and Dean Cimino were trying to get the confession back to Fountain. Iím pleased to see that the common goal shared by the Ciminos and others here, including the Historical Society, has come to fruition.
In closing, I just want to express (on behalf of the community) a big thank you to all who are responsible for making the museum a reality, and to all who do whatever it takes at fundraisers, the board overseeing the museum and everyone else who makes sure to keep it going. Museum membership fees are most reasonable, and since preserving our history is of such importance to so many local residents, I urge you to consider joining the Historical Society today!
