OBITUARIES

William “Bill” Barton
fell asleep in death after a long illness at home on September 21, 2008.

He was born April 16, 1932 to William and Elise K. (Kearsley) Barton in Camden, N.J. He is preceded in death by his parents and his sisters, Peggy, Betty and Marty. He is survived by his loving wife of 53 years, Ann Barton; two daughters, Elisabeth P. Lutz and Diane Layne; two grandchildren; four great-grandchildren and nephew, David Sandlin of N.J.

There will be a Memorial service on Thursday, September 25th, 2pm at Dove-Witt Fountain Valley Chapel, 6630 S. Hwy 85/87, Fountain, CO.

 

 


Dale L. Hill, 83, a resident of Fountain since 1966 and formerly of Crocker, Missouri passed away on Wednesday evening, September 24, 2008 at his home. 

He was retired from the United States Civil Service, was a World War II veteran and Past Commander of V.F.W. Post 6461 in Fountain.

Dale Leon Hill was born on October 22, 1924 in Havelock, Nebraska to the late Daniel L. and Julia C. (Kerrigan) Hill.  He graduated from Brady High School in Nebraska and then joined the Army Air Corps.  He married Viola B. Wands on September 22, 1948 in Lexington, Nebraska. Dale then joined the Army National Guard and worked for many years as a Wire Chief at Fort Carson.

He loved spending time with his family and especially enjoyed his grandchildren.  He was a member of the V.F.W., American Legion Post 39 and the B.P.O.E. Lodge in Victor.  Dale was an avid bird hunter and fisherman. For many years after their retirement, he and Viola enjoyed traveling, but their passion was serving the V.F.W.
Mr. Hill is survived by his loving daughters: Connie (and husband, Jerry) Elliott and Carol (and husband, Paul) Waring of Fountain.   He is also survived by his grandchildren: Danell Smith, Rob Starnes, Shannon Elliott – Fendley and Nicole Beres; and 10 great grandchildren. He is also survived by a brother: Terry McCall of Panama City, Florida. He will be also missed by his toy poodle and constant companion ”Ton Ton.”

He was preceded in death by  his wife, Viola, in 2001.
Funeral services were   September 29, at the Shrine of Remembrance “America the Beautiful” Chapel. 
Graveside Services with V.F.W. Honors followed at the Fairview Cemetery in Fountain.  A luncheon reception took place afterwards.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in Dale’s memory to the V.F.W., Fontaine Qui Bouille Post No. 6461, 753 S. Santa Fe Avenue, Fountain, Colorado 80817.
