Sergeant Major Billy Dean Oneyear, US Army (Ret.)
CSM Billy D. Oneyear, 78, passed away on January 7, 2008 in Colorado Springs. He was a longtime resident of Fountain, Colorado and served as a City Council Member. Billy was born on February 6, 1929 in Dubuque, Iowa to Harold S. and Helene Oneyear. On February 10, 1970 he married Stella Oshiro. She preceded him in death on August 22, 2006.
Billy served honorably in the United States Army as an inaugural member of the GHQ Raider Company. His military service included combat tours in Korea and Vietnam, where he was awarded the Bronze Star with two clusters and “V”, Combat Infantry Badge and numerous other decorations.
He was a proud veteran, serving until his passing as National First Vice President of The Retired Enlisted Association (TREA), and past President of Chapter One of TREA.
Billy was involved in numerous other endeavors throughout his life, including stints as a college football referee, timekeeper for the Baltimore Colts, Army ping pong champion, novice Scrabble player, and sporting goods manager extraordinaire.
Billy knew no strangers and spread his own brand of love and humor. Billy is survived by several sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, and many nieces, nephews and their families, each of whom will miss him dearly. While he and Stella had no natural children, they have the love of their adopted Air Force Academy cadets, Chris Malpass and Tim Kline, and their boxer Molly.
A celebration of Billy’s life took place January 11 at the Shrine of Remembrance “America the Beautiful” Chapel of Roses. Full Military Honors concluded the services.
Billy will be reunited with his beloved wife, Stella at Punchbowl National Cemetery of the Pacific in Honolulu, Hawaii.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Billy’s name may be made to the Muscular Dystrophy Association, 5446 N Academy Blvd., Colorado Springs, CO 80918
James Blaine Bruce
August 10, 1919 - January 14, 2008
James Blaine Bruce passed away at a local hospital on Monday, January 14, 2008.
He was born August 10, 1919.
He is survived by his wife, Ardith Bruce and a son, Dan Bruce.
Memorial services will be announced at a later date. A complete tribute will appear in next week’s paper.

Vivian Ford
March 18, 1969 - January 6, 2008
Vivian D. “Wendy” Ford, 38, passed away on January 9, 2008 in Colorado Springs.
She was born on March 18, 1969 in Columbia, South Carolina, the daughter of James Wendell and Marshann (Flythe) Anderson.
Wendy worked as a truck driver for a construction company and loved her Kenworth.
She has been a resident of Colorado Springs for 10 years. Wendy was a member of the Fountain Saddle Club, Fountain Ropin -n- Ridin, and among her other interests and loves were mountains, pastures, roping, barrel racing, her horses, dogs and cats.
Wendy is survived by her former husband, Patrick Wade Ford; mother Marshann Fortune; father and step-mom James and Nancy Anderson; children, Joshua Shaun Fricke and Patrick Kaleb Ford; step-daughter, Carley Orcutt; brother, David Darrell Phillips; sister, Pam Eggers; Fiance, James Vincent Klinger; step-sister, Elizabeth Ward, step-brother, Marcus Horne; grandmother, Betty “Boo-Boo” Lunsford; many nieces and nephews; her horses, Mini and Smoke; dogs, Spanky, Pebbles, Sassy and her cat, Fallen.
Funeral Services were January 14 at the Hanover Community Church 17480 Peyton Hwy. Memorial contributions for Wendy may be made to her mother Marshann Fortune.
Earl Milam
May 21, 1931 - January 10, 2008
EARL MILAM, 76, a Fountain Valley Resident, passed on January 10, 2008.
Earl was married to his high school sweetheart, Myra, for 58 years.
Earl was born in Coldwater, Mississippi on May 21, 1931, to Robert and Sallie Milam.
He served in the U.S. Navy for 4 years and the U.S. Air Force for 17 years as a communications specialist.
Earl and Myra moved to Colorado Springs in 1967 where they raised their three children.
Earl was an avid St. Louis Cardinals baseball fan and loved to read.
Earl was preceded in death by his six brothers. He is survived by his two sisters, Irene M. (Arthur) Hawkins and Corinne (Hank) Meyer. He is also survived by his wife, Myra D. Milam, his daughters, Sally T. (Terry) Redford, and Rosalind F. Milam, and his sons, B.E. Duxton (Korinna) Milam and Fletcher Howard. Earl leaves behind eight grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Memorial services were Monday, January 14, at Circle Drive Baptist Church. Dr. Mike Routt presided. Burial was today (Wednesday, January 16) at Ft. Logan National Cemetery in Denver. Andy Hornbaker presided. Arrangements were handled by Swan Law Funeral Directors.
Robert Boucher
Robert Boucher is survived by parents, Glen and Patricia; a brother, Andrew; and grandparents, Thomas Richard and Mary Alice McMeniman.
Robert was an ambitious individual who when putting his mind to doing something was able to accomplish anything.
Along with the help of many people, Robert was on his way to being an extremely successful individual. Robert had plans on making his life better by joining the Job Corps to learn skills that would be a stepping stone to joining the military which was a dream he always strived for.
Although Robert’s time has been so brief, he will always be remembered for his caring and loving heart. We will surely miss him.
Visitation was Tuesday, January 15, at Dove-Witt Family Mortuary, 6630 S. Hwy 85/87, Fountain. Funeral services will be today (Wednesday, January 16), at 10 a.m. at Soldiers Memorial Chapel, Ft. Carson with burial at Evergreen Cemetery. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the Widefield High School’s NJROTC program.
